Touch Screens for PDA

Touch Screens for PDA

One of PDA’s features which offers relative ease is its touch screen component. Even those people in a hurry can use it since one need not sit down and press small buttons, which is very difficult for one who is pressed for time. With PDA touch screen, the only thing one needs to do is to pick up the stylus and tap anywhere on the screen.

But before owners get carried away, they must always remember that touch screens are very sensitive. It must be cleaned with a cleaner specially suited for it. This must be diligently done by the owner to prevent its early deterioration. Another way to keep it functioning well is by putting the PDA in a case, whenever not in use, so that it will always be dust-free. A screen lined with dust will not be too sensitive to the tapping of the stylus. If this happens, the tapping pressure is increased until excessive force is being exerted by the user, thereby, damaging it slowly. In the case of PDA touch screen, ease comes with a price but it is not something that would require much of the owner’s time, just simple everyday measures to extend the PDA’s life.

One of the best things that could be done on the touch screen of your PDA is to write on it. Assignments can literally be written on your PDA, no need to type and use the mouse. This feature will be of great help to those people who are averse to typing.

But of course, users must be constantly reminded that the touch screen is very sensitive. This isn’t only true when cleaning the screen but more so when in use. Users must tap on it instead of pressing vigorously. One way to make the touch screen scratch-free would be to use screen covers. These screen covers can greatly reduce the risk of damaging your touch screen by overeager hands. Covers are available in many department stores. They are not confined to computer stores or shops only. Since the covers are not reusable, it is advisable to get them in packs, that way you’ll save more rather than buying it one at a time. But even tough they are not reusable, one cover can last for quite a while, that depends on the amount of time you spend using your PDA.

With screen cover or none, it is very important to remember not to tap the PDA touch screen with any pointed object aside from your stylus—that includes ballpen, pencil, hairbrush or even the tip of a really pointed fingernail. Stylus’ end is blunt which makes it a perfect object to tap on your touch screen. One advantage of the touch screen is the chance to write in your own handwriting, that is, by using the stylus and not the regular pencil. You can also use your fingers instead of the stylus because it mimics the bluntness of the original appliance but to be able to do this the user must forego having long fingernails, which is especially true for women.
