How Much Do PDA's Actually Cost?
Everything boils down to the brand the consumer is going to buy. Memory, style and speed are all important factors to consider but once a consumer opts to buy a branded PDA these factors are sometimes disregarded. There are instances wherein a very good-looking, branded, expensive PDA isn’t equipped with a large memory or the speed is compromised. In cases like this, it is best to consider the PDA’s specs and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of a branded PDA versus those which don’t sport a name.
On the other hand, there are branded but inexpensive PDA’s. These are the ones that can perform simple tasks such as optimizing word documents and basic program usage.
At the other end of the spectrum are the really expensive ones. The newer models out in the market have wireless capabilities and blue tooth. A PDA can cost as low as $99.00 to a really steep amount of $600.00. This does not include the accessories for your PDA such as case, screen, headphones, etc.
People have different motivations in buying. There are those who buy simply to have a digital organizer and these people are satisfied even with inexpensive ones. Other techie types buy for the rush they get at having highly advanced gadgets. This type of consumer can go all-out and buy the most expensive PDA on the market with complete accessories to satisfy the inner craving for technology.
For consumers who could not afford the enormously priced PDA’s they can always look for slightly used PDA’s that are being sold online. The disadvantage and risk for the new owner is the maintenance of the second hand PDA. The previous owner might have broken it and sold to unsuspecting buyers so the problem will now fall on the lap of the new owner. But these instances don’t happen everyday, consumers just have to be constantly on the look out for dubious sellers.
There are types of PDA that does not come with a warranty and this could also be a source of future problems for the owner. Most refurbished PDA’s are warranty-less. These are previously owned or malfunctioning PDA’s that were fitted with new parts to make it look like brand new. Consumers actually find these PDA’s quite a catch since they only need to shell out a few bucks. But the truth is, they have to shell out more in the future. Eventually, a refurbished PDA can breakdown bit by bit and the owner must continuously buy new parts for it. So the money that was saved initially was just put behind for future trouble.
It is good to look at computer stores which sell PDA’s plus accessories at a discounted price. There are stores which sell PDA exclusively and the price is way above than those being sold in computer stores. The reason behind is that computer shops can lower their price as long as other accessories are bought together with the PDA. For the consumer, this could be a wise choice since in the future he’ll surely be needing accessories and buying them one at a time will cost much than purchasing all at once.
